Community Life: What's New

STAINED GLASS WINDOW

In April 2004, our new stained glass window was installed. A dedication service took place in October 2004 in celebration of our 100th anniversary year. The window shows symbols from nature, in keeping with the present architecture and material of our sanctuary, to represent our faith and to interpret our name, Immanuel, which means "God with us". The upper portion of the design with the sun and moon reminds us of our Creator's eternal presence as the Alpha and the Omega. One star, Jesus, shines brighter than the others as the Star of Bethlehem. The dove represents the gift of the Holy Spirit's presence. The faint rainbow reminds us of God's promise to us. God is with us also through baptism, symbolized by the shell and water. In the flowing water are three distinct water drops that represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Also in the water are seven fish, the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. God is present in communion, represented by the grape vine and wheat stalks. The wheat, used in Swedish art and craft, is also a remembrance of our church founders. Please come worship with us and experience this inspirational addition to our sanctuary.
