Reconciling in Christ
Immanuel
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Attleboro is a community
of welcome in Christ. That welcome offers a place
of safety and assurance for all, free of violence
or contempt, bigotry or judgement.
In
the hospitality of the Gospel, Immanuel is a "Reconciling
in Christ" congregation, making explicit
that this welcome includes gay and lesbian persons.
We affirm with the apostle Paul that in Christ "there
is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor
free, there is neither maile nor female" (Galatians
3:28). Christ has made us one.
Because
gay and lesbian people have so often found scorn and
rejection in churches, a clear word is needed. We
therefore affirm:
